How exciting! You have decided to add a Hillside Havanese puppy to your family. Congratulations! Puppies can be difficult to manage without the appropriate supplies. Here is a list of items I recommend. Everything on this list are things I use and love or I don’t recommend them. Some items are personal preference. What works for me may not work for you.

1) Playpen:
You’ll need a playpen large enough to fit a crate and a litter box. They will only be in the playpen when you are away from home, when they are taking naps during the day and when you can’t watch them. Playpens without crossbars are recommended because puppies who are 8 weeks and above have been known to use the crossbars for leverage to escape. They can also get their heads trapped in-between the bars. Please check the measurements to make sure you have enough room in your space.
2) Crate:
Carrier crates serve multiple purposes. The pup can take naps in the crate, sleep at night in the crate or use for traveling in the car. Travel crates are usually safer than wire crates and are already covered to get that den like feel. You want the crate to be big enough for the puppy to sleep comfortably, but not have enough room to soil the bedding and then move away from the soiled area.
3) Beds:
The only comfy bed available should be in their crate. This encourages them to nap in the crate where it is dark and quiet. They tend to gravitate towards beds that have rounded sides to them. Please note that I have slightly different sizes listed for the crates. You will want to get a bed that is the same size at the crate you choose.
4) Grooming:
Havanese need groomed often. If you have the correct tools, it can make your job a lot easier. You are more than welcome to use any grooming supplies you would like and can afford. These items are what I have found work the best.
